Frowning Cactus has a discerning eye in selecting prospects aged six months to four years for competition training. Horses are started using caring, kind and compassionate methods that are adapted to each horse’s unique personality and temperament. A regular routine is used for training and progression is closely monitored to ensure maximum, healthy progress. The ranch offers a varied selection of talented horses with superb manner and bearing for sale.

Lessons are spearheaded by our Head Trainer Darian Smith, and are offered to select clients who can ship into our facility in Westcliffe, Co. These sessions can be tailored around any level of horse and/or rider education. An evaluation will be made after the first session to tailor a personalized education schedule for you and your horse! This plan will strive to achieve the goals set by YOU, so after our program both you and your horse are set up for success, no matter where you are.  We have a large outdoor arena as well as an indoor arena for inclement weather days!
